Maps & Legends

There are many truths and there are many worlds, said the sign solemnly.

-Patti Smith, The Year of the Monkey

Maps and legends reflect other angles of physical reality: other truths and worlds. Spatial references to the innate energy of certain places. Representing what we know about that place, or at least what we think we know. While the maps and legends are passed down through time and space, it is only in the original space, brimming with that innate energy, where the maps and legends have context. Keeping the eye receptive, the energy provides a guide for the lens. But is anything ever photographed? Are the photographs anymore than illusions?
